Start Brainstorming

The cost of maintaining a Web site is probably the most cost effective advertising you'll ever do.

Steps To Getting On Line

  1. Content.
First, you need to decide what information you would like to offer on your site. This can be as brief as one page describing who you are, where your are, what you do, and how to contact you, or it can be as comprehensive as you wish. You can include as many pages as you like describing your products and services or offering information you feel is relative to the needs of your customers and the general public.
  2. The Design.
You need someone to design your web site for you. That's us! We take your information and pictures, brochures, or other graphics and combine them to make attractive, readable, professional pages. We’ll work closely with you to make sure you get what you need and want.
  3. The Domain.
First, decide on a domain name and register it. Next, you need to have someplace to store your pages so they can be accessed by all Internet users. This is called a Web "Server." There are two ways of getting a "server" ….
    • Set up a computer in-house dedicated to Internet service. Generally speaking, only the largest companies have the resources to maintain an in-house server. This option requires 24 hour maintenance, a programmer and high speed communication lines. This is an expensive proposition.
    • Rent a virtual server from an existing Internet Service Provider. By far the most common and least expensive way to get your web page out there is to rent space on another server. This is called a "virtual server".
  4. Set Up Your Email Accounts.
Decide how you want to send and receive email, keep it orderly.
  5. The Webmaster.
Once your web site is up and running, there will still be maintenance issues. Your services or prices may change. You may want to add pages or other services. Perhaps you need to make a few changes in the text of your pages. If you have someone in your company who is able to do this for you, you're all set. If not, you'll need someone to take care of these things for you.
  6. Guaranteed Traffic.
There are many ways to insure that your website can be found by your customers. Submission to the major search engines is imperative, and the first place to start.

Research on the search engines. Try keywords that describe your company, service and products. See who comes up on the first couple of pages. Find the “Listing Services” websites that offer a free presence that is specific for your key words and company. This includes any organization that you belong to, like the chamber of commerce, the service union, yahoo maps, etc. Take advantage of these link exchanges. The more links back to your site, the better you will do in search engine listings.

Include your website address in every piece of literature written about your company. Encourage visits.

Collect as many email addresses as you can from your existing customer base. You need to get your website address out to your customers. You need to suggest that they, in turn, pass your address on to their contacts.

    PAY PER CLICK PROGRAMS
If your budget allows, you may wish to check out PPC and Adwords (pay per click programs). These can be very lucrative, or costly, depending on how you operate.

Getting a good position on the search engines will take time, but in time, a good webmaster will help to achieve better results.
